sugar and stars

Blogger's note: I am pleased to welcome Sugarfiend author Caroline Burau to the blog, today, as part of her Chick Lit Plus Blog tour. Read my review of the novel here. With Hollywood on my mind, I asked Caroline to cast her book if it was ever made into a movie.

My name is Caroline Burau, author of Sugarfiend, lover of all things cupcake.

If Sugarfiend got made into a movie AND I got to pick the actors(!?) ... I'm getting a little lightheaded ... bear with me ...

Okay. If Sugarfiend got made into a movie, my first choice for daffy, sugar-shocked Estelle would be the irrepressible and adorable Lena Dunham of HBO's series Girls. She has the perfect look and body type, she is marvelously flawed and charming, and I can easily picture her plastered on wine-coolers, lounging in a hotel hot tub, yelling "You're the wind beneath my relapse!"

Jack would be played Ryan Gosling, and he would totally want this role because he'd get to play a dude in a wheelchair and he's just that kind of actor, always looking for a challenge. (Swoon.) During filming, Ryan would most certainly develop a crippling and embarrassing crush on me because my husband says I'm super challenging.

Gloria could be played by Mia Tyler because she has the look and the attitude of a woman who could make barfing AND Birkenstocks sexy and mysterious.

Bill could be played by Stephen Moyer of "True Blood" for similar reasons to my casting Ryan Gosling, plus he would be required to whisper "Sookie" into my ear at least once a day during filming.

Of course, since much of the book takes place either on a Caribbean cruise ship or a beautiful and remote island in Belize, I would insist on acting as script consultant for the entirety of the project.

As you can see, I haven't fantasized about turning my book into a movie at all.

I'll see y'all at the Oscars.
