the toss-up

I Voted Today!... err... yesterday.
What can I say? You win some, you lose some.

I'm of course talking about my gross under performance for National Novel Writing Month.

Like many of my fellow Americans, I spent most of last night glued to the TV watching election coverage as the results poured in. I even stayed up to watch the candidates' speeches, because (as EVERY commentator said about a million times) it ain't over till it's over. The result was about 25 words written for my novel.

Fortunately, I figured this might happen. I am quietly a big fan of election results, even before I was old enough to vote or worked in a news room. In preparation, I worked extra hard Monday night to bring my word count slightly above where it needed to be last night to stay on pace to reach 50,000 words. Though I hoped for better from myself, what are you going to do?

With the election behind us, the real work begins, but I'm ready for it. Today, I plan to continue the pace I set Monday, calling yesterday a lapse in time. With any luck, I can post some big numbers today, stay on pace Thursday and Friday, then make this weekend, and my lack of serious responsibilities attached to it, count.

How are all of you doing with your NaNoWriMo goals.

  1. I am in awe of people who participate in NaNoWriMo. I have a friend who does it every year, but I've never been able to commit. Good luck! -and good planning ahead with election night :)
